A group of government party terrorists led by Ward 15 Councilor Saiful Bin Jalil of Kusik and Ward A:League President Azmir Hossain and General Secretary Humayon Kabir attacked and vandalized the mayoral candidate Monirul Haque Sakkur in the Comilla City Corporation by-election.
The incident took place at Gadarmar Colony in front of Katabil Primary School in the city on Friday around 5 pm. Monirul Haque Sakku is the mayoral candidate in the fourth phase of the Comilla City Corporation by-election.
Eyewitnesses said that the courtyard meeting was supposed to be held in front of Katabil School at 6. In the meantime, under the leadership of Ward No. 15 Councilor Saiful, Mahilanei Parveen Akhter attacked and then various leaders and activists of Ward A:League attacked.
Former mayor Sakku claimed that the workers of Ward A:League, Youth League and Chhatra League vandalized my stage, chairs and tables before the start of the courtyard meeting. So that I cannot program the courtyard meeting here. They also threatened not to promote the table clock symbol.
Mayoral candidate Sakku also said, “Knowing that my victory as the mayor is certain, the workers of Dr. Tahsin Bahar’s campaign, organized the A-League, Jubileeg and Chhatra League. The people of Comilla will answer this through the vote on March 9.
