Jatiya Party Co-Chairman and Patuakhali-1 Constituency MP ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader sought votes for upazila chairman candidate Dr. Harun Or Rashid Howlader in Dumki of Patuakhali. Patuakhali District Awami League President Kazi Alamgir also publicly announced not to give all the national privileges if Harun Howladar is not elected in line with the MP’s words. In the speech of the chief guest at Dumki Upazila Health Complex of Patuakhali last Monday afternoon, the candidate for the post of chairman in the upcoming upazila parishad election. Haroon Or Rashid wants to vote for Hawladar. President of District Awami League Kazi Alamgir, current Upazila Chairman Dr. Harun Or Rashid Howladar, UNO Md. Shaheen Mahmud, President of Dumki Upazila Awa Milig Abul Kalam Azad, General Secretary Shahjahan Akon Salim, President of Jatiya Party Ed Masud Al Mamun, General Secretary Syed Ziaul Hasan was the special guest.
Also, top leaders and workers of Upazila Awami League and Jatiya Party, local dignitaries were present. In the speech of the special guest, Patuakhali District Awami League President Kazi Alamgir said, to strengthen the hand of the MP, everyone should elect him from the side of Harun or Rashid Howlader. After the announcement of the upazila parishad election schedule, ignoring the rules of conduct, in the presence of Assistant Returning Officer and UNO, in an event organized as Saline Handover, the local MP and Awami League president asking for votes for a chairman candidate went viral on social media, causing public concern about the fair election.
In this regard, Dumki Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shaheen Mahmud said, “This is not an election meeting, I went to the saline handover ceremony of the MP.” I was embarrassed by the MP’s speech in that meeting, but there was nothing I could do.
