Forest officials must work diligently to protect forests and forest lands – Minister of Environment and Forests

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury said that the forest department officials must work diligently to conserve the country’s forests and woodlands. It is the constitutional responsibility of forest department officials to ensure conservation and protection of biodiversity, forests and wildlife. He said that the forest officials should contribute in creating the desired amount of forest land in the country.

The environment minister said these things while addressing the chief guest at the orientation meeting of 34 assistant forest conservators newly joined in the 41st BCS forest cadre at the meeting room of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Sunday (April 28).

The Environment Minister said that the country should be committed to work. Should be devoted to the welfare of the state and people. We have to build ourselves as an institution. He said that talent will be evaluated in Smart Bangladesh. All duties must be viewed through the lens of Article 18A of the Constitution. Any kind of irregularity and injustice will not be tolerated. The ministry will take action if it is obstructed in fulfilling the legal responsibilities.

The meeting was chaired by the secretary of the ministry. Farhina Ahmed, Additional Secretary (Administration) of the Ministry Iqbal Abdullah Haroon and Chief Conservator of Forests Md. Amir Hossain Chowdhury along with senior officials of the Ministry and the Department of Forests were present. The meeting was conducted by Deputy Secretary Forest Abu Naeem Mohammad Maruf Khan.

The minister welcomed all the newly joined Assistant Conservators of Forests with floral greetings and handed over books on forest related laws and regulations to enhance their professional knowledge.
