Bangladesh’s mountain forests, plains forests and coastal and floodplain forest areas are being implemented through the Sustainable Forest and Livelihood (Sufal) project. Through the application of sustainable forest management methods, restoration of unprotected and treeless forests and biodiversity conservation and environmental services in Bangladesh’s protected areas, Suphal project aims to develop a network of selected forest protected areas including livelihood benefits, carbon sequestration, climate change resilience. Through the creation of alternative income-generating work opportunities centered on forest conservation and the development of market-based value chains, there are resources for the development of alternative livelihoods for the poor and vulnerable and certain minority groups of forest-dependent communities. Under this project, livelihood development fund check was held last Monday (March 13) at 11 am. Distributed by Deputy Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Habibun Nahar MP. At this time, he distributed Tk 1 crore 60 lakh 52 thousand 700 of Livelihood Development Fund through check to 637 poor and vulnerable people of forest dependent community under Rajarkul Range of Ramu Upazila of Cox’s Bazar. Earlier, Deputy Minister Habibun Nahar MP, Saimum Sarwar Kamal MP, Chief Conservator of Forests Md Amir Hossain Chowdhury along with Environment, Forest Department and Administration officials visited the nursery of 100 species of trees created with the aim of afforestation of 100 acres in Mujib Centenary at Cox’s Bazar Botanical Garden near Ramu Rajar. Cox’s Bazar Botanical Deputy Minister Habibun Nahar MP said in the speech of the chief guest at the check distribution ceremony held in the garden area, the planting of trees increases the beauty of the area, not only that. By maintaining the balance of the environment, we are still living our healthy lives. The day the number of trees will decrease, the day our life expectancy will also decrease. If forest is destroyed by deforestation, even after 20/30 years we can create forest if we want. But it cannot be created by cutting a mountain. That is never possible. If the local administration, public representatives, local people are not strict in this matter, it is not possible to stop the cutting of hills.
