Election Commission Secretary Jahangir Alam said that the commission will take strict action if the law is violated and influence spread in the by-election of Trishal municipality. He said that through the impartiality of the National Assembly election, fair elections have been accepted by the people of the world. Those officers of Trishal will carry out the responsibility of municipal elections. The municipal elections will be fair and impartial. He said, ‘If any official is involved in irregularities in the election, then he should take the responsibility. In that case, the commission will play the role of zero tolerance. The Chief Guest Election Commission Secretariat Secretary Md. Jahangir Alam attended the training of polling officers at the Rashedul Islam conference room in Trishal on Thursday (February 29) and exchanged views with returning officers, law enforcement and election officials. Before this, he also discussed with the mayoral candidates participating in the election. He said, “There is no doubt in your mind about voting in EVM, whether or not to vote by this machine, whether there is any fear or not, there is no such opportunity.” He also said, a machine can be useless at any time, you have nothing to worry about. We have decided to commission about one and a half times as many machines as the number of booths in a centre. Where there will be six booths, we will provide nine machines. If for some reason one machine does not work, a second machine can be set up there. You will be trained on how to use this machine.’ Upazila Executive Officer and Returning Officer, Trishal Municipality by-election-2024, Trishal, Mymensingh under the chairmanship of Jewel Ahmed, Superintendent of Police (promoted) Shamim Ahmed, Trishal Upazila Chairman Bir Muktijoddha Abdul Matin Sarkar, Senior District Election Officer Shafiqul Islam, Regional Officer Belayet Hossain Chowdhury, OC Kamal Hossain of Trishal Police Station and related officials. The total number of voters in the Trishal municipal election is 26 thousand 822. Trishal municipality consists of 9 wards. Voting will be held in total 14 polling stations. This time the vote will be in EVM.
