Nine coaches of the train derailed in Comilla due to bending of railway line in summer. At least three/four people were injured in this incident. Meanwhile, all trains from Chittagong to Dhaka, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Chandpur and Cox’s Bazar have been stopped due to train derailment. However, the line towards Chittagong is operational. Train movement is normal on that line.

The incident took place on Sunday (March 17) around two quarter past two in the afternoon at Tejer Bazar area near Hasanpur railway station in Nangalkot. Liaquat Ali Majumdar, Comilla Senior Assistant Engineer (Roads) of Railways confirmed the matter.

He said that the Mymensingh-bound Vijay Express left Chittagong much later than the scheduled time. Nine outer coaches derailed while the train crossed Gunavati station in Chauddagram and entered Hasanpur station in Nangalkot. Liaquat Ali Majumdar said that we initially came to know that the line bent due to sudden heat. Another train from Laksham was sent to the spot to rescue the train.
