Nizam Uddin Khan was elected as the Chairman of Tetulia Upazila Parishad in Panchagarh in the first phase of the 6th Upazila Parishad elections. He received 36,840 votes with the motorcycle symbol. His closest rival was former upazila chairman Muktarul Haque Muku. He received 11,865 votes with the horse symbol.

Voting took place continuously in 37 centers of the upazila from 8 am to 4 pm on Wednesday. Assistant Returning Officer and Election Officer Md. Shamim Hossain announced the results of the election after counting the votes at night.

Tauhid Hasan Tuhin has been elected male vice chairman in this upazila. He got 14629 votes in Tia bird symbol. His closest rival Mujibur Rahman got 14,010 votes with the Mike symbol.

Sultana Razia was elected for the third time as the female vice-chairman. This time also he got 46978 votes with Kals symbol. His nearest rival Souma Chowdhury got 17938 votes with football symbol. Sultana Razia was elected for four consecutive terms.

In this election, Nizam Uddin Khan, the youngest candidate among the new face candidates, has been elected chairman after defeating three influential leaders of Awami League. Wide discussions are going on all over the upazila about his victory.

According to the Election Commission, the total number of voters in Tentulia Upazila is 1 lakh 4 thousand 814 people. Among them 52 thousand 367 male voters and 52 thousand 447 female voters. Polling was held in 37 centres. In this election, 5 people contested for the post of chairman, 8 people for the post of vice chairman and 2 women vice chairman in Tentulia upazila.

Assistant Returning Officer and Upazila Election Officer Md. Shamim Hossain said that the first phase election of the 6th Upazila Parishad was held in a free, fair, impartial and peaceful manner. This election yesterday, Wednesday, from 8 am to 4 pm without interruption. Adequate security forces were deployed to maintain law and order in the elections. At night we published the results of the upazila polls.
