A schoolgirl named Swarna Khatun (17) committed suicide by twisting her veil around her neck as the ongoing SSC examination was bad in Tangail’s Bhuyapur.
On Sunday (February 18) morning, Bhuyapur Thana police recovered his body hanging from Betua Polisha area of Upazila Paur.
The deceased Swarna Khatun is the daughter of Sona Mia, a mason of that village. He was giving SSC exam from Tepibari High School.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhuyapur police station Ahsan Ullah told the locals that last Thursday, February 15, there was a Bengali First Paper exam. He told home that the exam was not good. Swarna was depressed about it. At some point on Saturday night, she committed suicide by hanging herself with a wooden stick. On receiving information, the police recovered his body hanging.
Swarna’s father Sona Mia said, last Saturday night we slept together in our respective rooms. On Sunday morning, when I called my daughter to pray, I did not get any response, then I opened the door of the house and entered and found my daughter hanging with a veil wrapped around her neck.
In this regard, Ahsan Ullah, officer in charge of Bhuyapur police station, said that the body of the schoolgirl was recovered from the spot after receiving information. The body has been sent to Tangail General Hospital morgue for post-mortem. The body will be handed over to the relatives after legal proceedings.
