The “July Rebirth Ceremony” was held at Pirojpur Government Women’s College on Thursday morning (July 31). The event, which began at 10 am, included a reception for the July warriors, a memorial service, a film screening and a cultural program.
Additional DIG of Barisal Range Md. Nazmul Haque was present as the chief guest at the event.
Pirojpur Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Matiur Rahman, Executive Engineer of the Department of Educational Engineers Md. Zahirul Islam, Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Mamunur Rashid, District Education Officer Md. Idris Ali Azadi, and teachers and students of the college were present as special guests.
The speakers remembered those injured and killed in the July-August uprising and paid deep respect to their role in the struggle to build a new Bangladesh free from discrimination.
The program was presided over by Professor Rafiqul Islam, Principal of Pirojpur Government Women’s College.
At this time, the protesting students of the college were felicitated. The day-long event was graced with delightful cultural performances that made the event even more lively.
