Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 106,000 pieces of yaba pills worth around 32.81 million taka, a private car and a mobile phone during a raid at the Hoi Kang check post in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar. The driver of the private car has been arrested on charges of smuggling yaba. The commander of Ukhia 64 BGB confirmed this information in a press release on Tuesday (July 28). The release said that when a private car bound for Cox’s Bazar from Teknaf reached the Hoi Kang check post at around 10 pm on Monday (July 27), BGB members on duty searched the car. At that time, 1,06,000 pieces of yaba pills hidden in 16 packets wrapped in black polythene were recovered inside the front bumper of the car. In this incident, the driver of the private car, Md. Saiful Islam Khokon (36) was arrested. He is the son of Mohammad Ismail of Paranipara PMkhali area of ​​Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila. During initial interrogation, the arrested person said that he was collecting Yaba from Teknaf and taking it to Cox’s Bazar to sell at a higher price. The BGB said that along with the recovered Yaba, a private car and a mobile phone used for drug transportation have been seized. Legal action is underway against the arrested person. The commander of 64 BGB in Ukhia said that intelligence surveillance has been further strengthened to identify drug suppliers and smugglers involved in it and bring them under the law. In addition to ensuring border security, the BGB’s operations to prevent drugs and smuggling will continue in the future.
