On the occasion of Holy Ramadan, the National Organization for the Visually Impaired has distributed Iftar items among the visually impaired. On Monday (March 11) at 4 pm at Shahali 8th Ward Community Center of Mirpur, the Iftar materials were distributed with the own funding of the National Visually Impaired Organization. On the initiative of the organization, over 3 days (March 11, 12, and 13), Iftar materials will be distributed among 500 visually impaired families living in Dhaka city and Dhaka district on the occasion of holy Ramadan. Each packet of iftar items contains – 2 kg gram dal, 1 kg khesari dal, 2 kg sugar, 2 kg chira, 1 kg salt, 500 gm dates and 2 liters soybean oil. Alhaj Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil, Member of Parliament of Dhaka-14 Constituency, was present as the chief guest in the event under the chairmanship of Nurul Alam Siddique, Chairman of the Central Committee of the National Visually Impaired Organization and moderated by Secretary General Ayub Ali Howlader. Present as special guests were Mirpur Shahali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Maudud Howladar, Dhaka North City Corporation No. 8 Ward Councilor Abul Kashem Molla. The invited guests addressed the visually impaired. Hundreds of visually impaired people living in Dhaka city, local Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League leaders and print and electronic media journalists were present at the time. Ayub Ali Hawladar, Secretary General of the Central Committee of the National Visually Impaired Organization, presented some demands to Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during the distribution of iftar items. The demands are to provide free permanent allocation of the house at the head office of the organization, 6 Orphanage Road, Bakshibazar, Dhaka-1211, to increase the disability allowance, to provide employment to the disabled people on the basis of merit and to free the helpless, poor, underprivileged visually impaired people from begging. Providing employment to any son or daughter, brother or sister based on merit. In the chief guest’s speech Alhaj Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil, Member of Parliament of Dhaka-14 Constituency, said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had allotted plots for the welfare of the visually impaired out of love. BNP-Jamaat people have appropriated them. He also said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina loves the visually impaired people very much. He promised to stand by the Prime Minister’s attention by identifying the problems of the visually impaired. Besides, Alhaj Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil, Member of Parliament of Dhaka-14 Constituency, requested the media workers to reveal the masks of those who have unjustly occupied the property of the visually impaired.
