The ‘National Nutrition Week-2024’ has been inaugurated in Barura, Comilla under the organization of Public Health Nutrition Institute and the implementation of Barura Upazila Health Complex.
Barura Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Nu Emong Marma Mong, President of Upazila Nutrition Coordinating Committee inaugurated the ‘National Nutrition Week-2024’ at Barura Upazila Health Complex Auditorium on Thursday 9th May.
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer and Member Secretary of Upazila Nutrition Coordinating Committee Dr. Kamrul Hasan Sohail spoke in the program organized under the theme of building a smart Bangladesh: eat food with nutritional quality.
Upazila Agriculture Officer and Upazila Nutrition Coordinating Committee Member Zahidul Islam, Upazila Family Planning Officer and Nutrition Coordinating Committee Member Mohammad Eyachin, Upazila Education Officer and Upazila Nutrition Coordinating Committee Member Tariqul Islam.
Journalist Md. Ilyach Ahmed, journalist Mohammad Masud Majumdar, journalist Md. Ikramul Haque, important persons including doctors working in Barura Upazila Health Complex were present at this time.
Resident Medical Officer Dr. Nuren Taskin Tuli presented a presentation on the occasion of National Nutrition Week-2024.
Speakers in the event said that in order to make the next generation a healthy generation, it is necessary to ensure the nutrition of the child at the beginning of birth i.e. in the womb. For this, the nutrition of the pregnant mother should be ensured.
Immediately after birth, the newborn should be breastfed. Up to 6 months of age, the baby should be exclusively breastfed. After 6 months breast milk should be fed along with other nutritious foods. During adolescence, the speakers asked to ensure nutritious food in the diet of teenagers
