SB-Sujon, Lalmonirhat: Minister of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Asadul Habib Dulu, Sunday, August 2 Visited the Rehabilitation Center and RDRS Eye Care Center run by RDRS Bangladesh in Lalmonirhat. During this time, he visited various activities of the organization and exchanged views with the concerned people.
At the beginning of the visit, the visually impaired children of the rehabilitation center warmly welcomed the Honorable Minister with flowers. Later, he visited the classrooms of the children and observed their teaching activities in Braille. At this time, the Minister became emotional when some students wrote and displayed his name in Braille. He praised the children’s talent, confidence and sincere efforts of the teachers.
Then he visited the cultural practice center of the rehabilitation center and the income-generating training programs of the students. He expressed satisfaction after visiting various skill development activities of visually impaired children and youth there. He suggested to give special importance to the production of Shatranj.
Later, the Minister visited the RDRS Eye Care Center. He visited various medical services of the center, talked to doctors and health workers, and exchanged views with patients who came for treatment and inquired about the quality of their services.
Later, he inaugurated the evening eye care program of the RDRS Eye Care Center. After the inauguration, he visited the special model and exhibition developed by RDRS Bangladesh for community-based disaster risk reduction displayed in the Eye Care Center premises and was informed about its effectiveness.
As part of the visit, he planted a sapling of a wood almond tree in the Eye Care Center premises.
In his speech as the chief guest at the said exchange of views, he highly appreciated the contribution of RDRS Bangladesh in the education and rehabilitation of visually impaired children. He promised to gift a car to the children for their transportation. The meeting was presided over by RDRS Bangladesh Executive Director Dr. Imrul Kayes Moniruzzaman.
Also present were Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Rashedul Haque Pradhan, Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Mononita Das, Lalmonirhat District Civil Surgeon Dr. Abdul Hakim, among others.
Later, after the exchange of views, RDRS Bangladesh Executive Director Dr. Imrul Kayes Moniruzzaman presented a memento to the minister. Then, they enjoyed a pleasant cultural program performed by visually impaired children.
After the visit, he highly appreciated RDRS Bangladesh’s healthcare, rehabilitation, inclusive education and community-based disaster management activities. He said that such humanitarian and public welfare initiatives are playing an important role in improving the quality of life of the backward sections of the society. He assured that the government will continue to provide necessary support for such activities in the future as well.
