International Desk: The body of renowned mountaineer Nirmal Purja, who died in a terrible avalanche in northern Pakistan this week, has been recovered. The operation is underway to recover the bodies of nine more members of his team. The Alpine Club of Pakistan said this on Sunday.
The club said in a post on social media, “The ground-based rescue team has reached Nims Dai (Purja) on Broad Peak at an altitude of about 5,700 meters. It was his favorite mountain. And this mountain took him away from us today.”
AFP news agency reported this news from Skardu, Pakistan.
Later, the Alpine Club of Pakistan Secretary General confirmed to AFP that along with Nirmal Purja’s body, three more bodies had been recovered.
However, the rescue operation is continuing to search for the remaining members of the team missing in the avalanche.
