Liakat Hossain Bachchu and Ruhul Amin Babul were elected as the chairman of Hatibandha Upazila Parishad in Lalmonirhat and Ruhul Amin Babul in Patgram. Upazila Parishad declared them winners privately on Wednesday midnight.
District Hatibandha Upazila Awami League president and former upazila chairman Liakat Hossain Bachchu won by getting 34 thousand 9 hundred 3 votes. His closest candidate, current upazila chairman Moshiur Rahman Mamun, got 33,481 votes.
In Patgram upazila, the current upazila chairman Ruhul Amin Babul has won privately by getting 56 thousand 1 hundred and 43 votes. His nearest candidate Wajedul Islam got only 935 votes.
Apart from this, in Hatibandha upazila, Alauddin Mia and Sharmin Sultana Sathi as female vice chairman, Mofazzal Hossain as male vice chairman and Rezwana Parveen as female vice chairman in Patgram upazila have won.
