Locals found an abandoned mortar cell while filling the Eidgah grounds in Lalmonirhat’s Hatibandha.  On Wednesday evening, the mortar cell was found in an Eidgah ground in Munsipara area of ​​Ward No. 4 of Barakhata Union of the upazila.

It is known that for the renovation of an Eidgah ground in Munsipara area of ​​Barakhata Union of the upazila, the work of filling the Eidgah ground by bringing soil from a nearby pond is going on.  In this situation, the locals saw a mortar cell in the Eidgah field last Wednesday afternoon.

Later he brought the abandoned mortar cell and kept it in a room and informed the police.  On receiving the information, the local police station recovered the mortar shell.  It is believed that the mortar cell dates back to the Great War of Independence in 1971.

Eidgah field committee president Ahsan Habib Lovelu said that the workers saw the mortar cell while filling the soil in the Eidgah field.  Later brought the mortar cell and kept it in the Eidgah ground room and informed the police.  The police are investigating.

In this regard, Hatibandha police station investigation officer (OC) Nirmal Chandra Mohant said that the police went to the spot after receiving the information.  The mortar cell was recovered.  However, action will be taken knowing that the mortar cell is passive or active.
