Lalmonirhat ACC investigates irregularities in railway renovation work

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an operation to investigate irregularities in the railway renovation work at Lalmonirhat.  A team of six members led by Deputy Director of Kurigram Integrated District Office of Anti-Corruption Commission, Sirajul Haque, conducted the raid at the Lalmonirhat divisional office of Railways on Wednesday, May 8.

According to ACC sources, the ACC team came to the operation on the instructions of the ACC head office in the wake of the complaint of cutting soil from the land adjacent to the railway and renovating the two sides of the railway through irregularities in the ten and a half kilometer railway renovation project from Ulipur to Chilmari in Kurigram district at a cost of about 34 crores.

During the operation, he observed the progress of the railway repair work related to the complaint on the ground.  Besides talking to the local people present at the spot, he took a statement about the railway work.

Later he came to the Lalmonirhat Divisional Engineer’s office of Railways for the purpose of collecting all the documents related to the work and talked to Ahsan Habib, the Divisional Engineer of the responsible officer and collected the related records.

Deputy Director of ACC’s Kurigram District Office, Sirajul Haque, told reporters that we have spoken to the concerned officer and collected the necessary documents.  After reviewing the records, I will submit a detailed report to the commission.

Anti-Corruption Commission Assistant Director Khalid Mahmud, Deputy Assistant Director Monirul Islam and Deputy Assistant Director Mamun Ali Mondal were present.
