The wife’s car driver and the wife of the shackle got the job.” The mayor recently published a recruitment circular for 5 posts in Galachipa municipality of Patuakhali district. In light of the clearance of Local Government, Ministry of Rural Development and Cooperatives, Local Government Department, 5 vacant posts of Galachipa Municipality have been completed as per the recruitment circular on November 13, 2023 to fill the posts on a temporary basis.
On Saturday (December 30) in Galachipa Government Girls Secondary School, after taking the written exam for 5 positions, the oral exam was taken in the night after the results were announced in a hurry. There have been allegations of widespread irregularities and illegal transactions in this appointment. Municipal employees, job seekers and locals who did not want to reveal their names said that illegal bribes of more than half a million rupees have been transacted in only 5 posts. The convenor of Galachipa municipality’s employee recruitment and promotion selection committee, Mayor Ahsanul Haque Tuhin’s personal car driver and house caretaker, Md. Arifur Rahman, has been appointed to the post of janitor and his wife has been appointed to the post of naxaka. Also, some members also said that the application form was scrutinized in the absence of the member of the recruitment board. Other members of the recruitment board are Galachipa Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md Nashim Reza, Patuakhali Municipality Secretary (Acting) Md Masum Billah and Town Planner Farzana Yasmeen. Mayor Ahsanul Haque Tuhin went into hiding after the inconsistencies and false information in the application of the job candidates were clear, but in exchange of favors and bribes, the family relatives participated in the written test and the oral test and showed that they had passed the oral test at night and revealed the final result in the morning. Md. Arifur Rahman, the candidate of Roll No. 501 for the post of Janitor of Post No. 5 is visible among the discrepancy applications. He has submitted the certificate of passing 8th class examination in 2008 from Boalia BPC Secondary School along with the application. However, he got GPA-3.25 in JSC exam in 2008. Both of which are false, fake and bogus. Because, in 2008 no JSC exam was started. GPA was introduced in 2010. Even so, the local people also claimed that the employer and the mayor hastily completed the ancillary activities of the recruitment including organizing the examination without any verification.
Also forgery has been done to attest the photocopy of the certificate issued by forging the signature of the Headmaster of BPC Secondary School. The seal and signature of the Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer agriculturist Mr. Md. Akramuzzaman has been forged. It is also known that these fake certificates have been made at the mayor’s residence, which directly creates fake seals on the instructions of the mayor of Galachipa municipality. Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer, agriculturist Mr. Md. Akramuzzaman told Swadhin Bangla TV, that my seal signature was forged on the NID and certificate of a person named Arifur Rahman. That seal signature is not mine. On Saturday night, on the second floor of the Galachipa Municipal Building, Arifur Rahman ran away when asked about the fake certificate and fake fraud.
Md. Masum Billah, member secretary of the recruitment board and secretary of the municipality (in charge) said, “I was in the selection of applications. However, I have additional duties in this municipality, so could not give much time. On the question whether the application has been verified in connection with the selection, he said that it has been verified, if there is anything, contact the mayor, I do not know. Farzana Yasmeen, town planner of Patuakhali municipality, could not be reached for comment. Md Nashim Reza, Member of the Recruitment Board and Galachipa Assistant Commissioner (Land) said, I was a member of the Recruitment Board but was not in the selection process. However, according to sources in the mayor’s office, he went into hiding after revealing the final results of the recruitment.
