A human chain and protest rally was held in Nalchit of Jhalkathi to demand justice for those involved in the murder of Siddhakathi Union Volunteers League President Ziaul Hasan Fuad Kazi.
On Wednesday (January 10) at eleven o’clock in the morning, this human chain was organized on the road in front of Chauddaburia Emdadul Ulum Noorani, Hafezi and Qwomia Madrasas of Siddhakathi Union of Upazila.
Family members of deceased Fuad Kazi and local common people participated in the human chain. Meanwhile, Safin Kazi, the victim’s son, while crying, demanded the quick arrest of his father’s killers and exemplary punishment. People from all walks of life, civil society and families organized a human chain and protest rally, Nalchiti Upazila Freedom Fighters Deputy Commander (former) Abdul Barek Howladar, deceased’s father Maqbul Hossain Kazi, son Safin Kazi, elder brother Faisal Kazi, General Secretary of Union Awami League AKM Shahidul gave brief speeches. Islam Pannu Youth League leader Saidul Islam, Union Volunteer League general secretary Alam Khan, Masood Alam Bepari, Amirul Islam Rajib, Kabir Shikder, Badrul Alam Maruf Jomaddar, Jewel Kazi, Mosaddek Ali Shaheed, Mohiuddin Khan and others were also present. At that time, they said, Fuad Kazi is a well-known face of our area. People from far away did not come to kill him. Someone from our neighborhood was involved in the murder of Fuad Kazi. Our demand is to identify and arrest the accused at the earliest and provide exemplary punishment. About 300 people participated in the human chain and protest rally.
It is to be noted that he was brutally hacked to death at around 9:30 pm on his way home after the National Assembly election on January 7. Later on January 9, the victim’s elder brother Faisal Kazi filed a murder case at Nalchiti police station with unknown accused as plaintiff.
