Local drug dealers and drug addicts have been human chained in Sherpur demanding their quick arrest. On Monday, March 18 at noon, the local residents and students of various schools organized the hour-long human chain program at Amtali Chowrasta junction of Jangaldi village of Balayerchar Union of Sherpur Sadar Upazila.
Afroz Ali, president of Ward 8 of Balayerchar Union Awami League, General Secretary of Ward Jubo League spoke at the human chain. Nazrul Islam, Dulal Uddin Pir etc.
The speakers in the human chain said that the resident of Jangaldi and Amtali Chowrasta intersection area of Sadar Upazila’s Balayerchar Union is a drug dealer. Chan Mia, Md. Rafiqul Islam, Jangaldi village. Abul Kashem, Md. Manchur Mia, Md. Nabibul Mia, Md. Mosharraf, Md. Rubel Mia, Md. Mamun Mia, Md. Lal Chan Mia, Md. Several organized drug dealers including Abdul Latif have been freely selling various types of drugs including heroin, yaba tablets, phencidil and ganja in this area for a long time. Drug addicts came from different areas and bought drugs. The people of the area are fed up with the traffic of drug dealers and drug dealers. Also, the parents are worried about the school and college going children of the farmer families in the area. Therefore, a written complaint has also been given to the administration demanding that a list of identified drug dealers in the area be quickly arrested and brought to justice. The speakers demanded to take quick action according to that list.
A protest march was held against human chain drug dealers. At that time, dignitaries of the area and students of various schools were present.
