On the occasion of the successful celebration of Great Martyrs Day and International Mother Language Day 2024, Director General Professor A press conference was held at the International Mother Language Institute on Monday 12/02/2024 at 11.00 am in the International Conference Room (4th floor) of the Institute under the chairmanship of Hakeem Arif. The press conference was presided over by the Director General of the International Mother Language Institute, Professor Dr. Hakim Arif. He explained the details of the Linguistic Olympiad to the journalists. In this press conference, linguistic expert, chairman of Linguistics Department of Dhaka University, presented a speech to friends of print and electronic media journalists. Muhammad Asaduzzaman, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Ministry of Education, Information and Public Relations Officer, Mr. Mohammad Abul Khair, Mr. Md. Aminul Islam Director (Language, Research and Planning), International Mother Tongue Institute, Mr. Md. Azharul Amin Director (Administration, Finance and Training), International Mother Language Institute.
The honorable president of the press conference is the director general of the International Mother Language Institute, Professor Dr. Hakeem Arif said that the International Mother Language Institute has already undertaken several programs. In continuation of this, Linguistic Olympiad is being held all over the country. Through this competition, the new generation is being attracted to learn Bengali and other mother tongues. This institution is engaged in the restoration, development and documentation of endangered languages of different countries of the world including Bangladesh. I think the importance of mother tongue practice is undeniable in order to build the Bangladesh of the father of the nation’s dream.
Language expert Dhaka University Linguistics Department Chairman Prof. Dr. Muhammad Asaduzzaman said – International Mother Tongue Institute Linguistic Olympiad has aroused great response across the country. We hope that this event, the first organized in the country, will be more festive in the finale. I believe that the participants of this Linguistic Olympiad in different regions including Dhaka will be more aware of mother tongue practice and practice.
Honorable Minister of Education, Information and Public Relations Officer, Mr. Mohammad Abul Khair said – Since the Honorable Prime Minister will inaugurate the program organized by the International Mother Tongue Institute and the International Mother Tongue Institute was established by his sole desire, I request friends of print and electronic media to properly promote the 21st program.
Mr. Md Aminul Islam Director (Language, Research and Planning) International Mother Tongue Institute said – International Mother Tongue Institute has no shortage of sincerity to make this event a success. He requested the journalists present to promote the program.
Mr. Md. Azharul Amin Director (Administration, Finance and Training) International Mother Tongue Institute said – Just as speaking in English does not touch the soul, any language other than the mother tongue does not have the benefit of the mother tongue. The International Mother Tongue Institute is working to keep alive all the mother tongues of the world.
Deputy Director (Publication, Publicity, Information and Public Relations) International Mother Language Institute Mr. Md. Abdul Quader said that as part of the program of Great Martyr’s Day and International Mother Language Day 2024, the winners of the 6 venues of the Linguistic Olympiad in 5 regions will be tomorrow 13/02/2024 at the International Mother Language Institute. will participate in the final round. In the final round, 3 people in 2 categories will receive a total of 6 awards from the Honorable Prime Minister at the event and these 6 will be considered for the International Linguistics Olympiad to be held in Brazil this year.
The honorable president of the press conference is the director general of the International Mother Language Institute, Professor Dr. Hakeem Arif answered various questions from the journalists present and announced the short program of Great Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day 2024:
1. Tomorrow 13/02/2024 at 09:00 AM at the International Mother Tongue Institute the opening ceremony of the final phase of Linguistic Olympiad will be held and the examination will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
2. Next 21/02/2024 at 03:00 PM (probably) Hon’ble Prime Minister will announce the auspicious opening of the 4-day 21st program.
3. Next language fair will be held on 22/02/2024 and 23/02/2024.
4. National seminar will be held on 22/02/2024 and international seminar on 23/02/2024.
5. Children’s drawing competition will be held on 24/02/2024.
The President also said that the detailed schedule of the Great Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day 2024 will be informed to the media with the approval of the Ministry of Education and announced the end of the program by requesting for proper dissemination of the issues discussed in the press conference.
