The vandalism of Padma has started at ferry ghat number 6 and 7 in Daulatdia of Golanda upazila of Rajbari. The river bank of Chhattar member next to that ghat is disappearing due to erosion. About 150 homesteads, shops and two ferries in the area are threatened by this. Going to the ground on Tuesday morning, it was seen that in the last one week, the water level at Daulatdia point of Padma river has increased by about 4 to 5 feet. The Padma tide has caused the river water to become turbulent and create crashing waves. At this time, the launch and small boats can be seen slowly moving and disappearing into the river along with the vegetation of the large area of Ferry No. 6. Several local people are even seen trying to stop the erosion by filling sand in plastic bags. At this time, Abdul Sardar, who is working, lamented that river erosion has started in this area for the past one week. Meanwhile, government people are coming to see. But no one is taking any measures to prevent erosion. We are trying to prevent erosion with the financial support of local social worker Tofajzel Hossain Tapu.

On this side, the local Muslims also expressed concern about the mosque, which has survived several times due to erosion, adjacent to Ferighat No. 3. They lamented and said, We have made many requests to the BIWTA authorities. But they do not care about this mosque. It is believed that it will be impossible to maintain this mosque in this rainy season, God knows what will happen.

Gowaland Upazila Executive Officer Jyoti Vikas Chandra said after visiting the erosion area, ‘I have spoken to the higher authorities of BIWTA to take effective measures to prevent the Padma erosion at Daulatdia erosion ghat. They will take necessary action at the earliest.
