A discussion meeting, exchange of greetings and cake cutting ceremony have been organized in Dinajpur to mark the 15th founding anniversary of the country’s private satellite television channel Maasranga Television.
The program, held at the Dinajpur Press Club (Nimtola) auditorium at 11:30 am on Thursday (July 30), was presided over by Dinajpur Press Club convener AH Bablu.
Dinajpur Additional Superintendent of Police Suman Ranjan Sarkar was the chief guest. Former president of Dinajpur Press Club Nurul Huda Dulal, general secretary of Dinajpur Journalists Union Shahin Hossain, Dinajpur unit head of Square Food and Beverage Jabed Hossain, Dinajpur correspondent of Dainik Prothom Alo Rajiul Islam Raju and Dinajpur correspondent of Maasranga Television Rezaul Karim Ranju were present as special guests.
The program was hosted by Sultan Mahmud, General Secretary of Dinajpur Television Journalists Association and Dinajpur representative of Deepto Television.
In his speech as the chief guest, Additional Superintendent of Police Suman Ranjan Sarkar said that journalism and policing complement each other. Through objective and investigative journalism, it is possible to make the administration’s activities on various issues related to crime prevention, law and order, and public interest more effective. He emphasized on strengthening mutual cooperation between media workers and law enforcement agencies.
The speakers at the discussion meeting said that since its inception, Maasranga Television has earned the trust of the audience by providing responsible, impartial, and objective news. They expressed hope that the channel will play an important role in fulfilling the expectations of the public in the future by maintaining the continuity of information-based journalism.
Journalists, camerapersons from various print, electronic and online media outlets in the district, members of the Dinajpur Television Journalists Association and members of the ‘Bandhujan’ Readers Forum participated in the program.
In the final part of the program, the guests cut the 15th anniversary cake and expressed their hopes for the continued success, prosperity and long journey of Maasranga Television.
