Mirsarai Correspondent : Police on Thursday morning arrested a woman named Moni Begum (35) on charges of severing her sleeping husband’s genitals and cutting his ankle tendon in the Zorarganj Police Station area of Chattogram.
She was apprehended around 9:30 AM from the Uttar Sonapahar area.
According to police sources, following a domestic dispute, Moni tied up her husband, Md. Russel, while he was asleep and used a razor blade to slice off the base of his private part. She also used a sharp weapon to cut the tendon behind his left ankle, leaving him critically injured.
Following the incident, a case (Case No. 22, Date: 30/07/2026) was filed with Zorarganj Police Station by the victim’s family. Shortly after the case was lodged, a police team led by Zorarganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abdul Halim and SI Motiur Rahman launched an operation and arrested the accused wife.
Zorarganj Police Station OC Mohammad Abdul Halim stated, “A case under Sections 326 and 307 of the Penal Code has been registered against the accused. Legal proceedings are underway to produce her before the court.
