As a farmer named Shahidul Islam succeeded in cultivating colorful cauliflower for the first time in Tangail Sadar, many people are showing interest in farming. Cauliflower cultivation is becoming popular because colored cauliflower has more nutrients than white cauliflower and the market price is higher. As the topic of colorful cauliflower cultivation is new in Sadar, the people of the surrounding areas are flocking to see the field of dresses every day. Shahidul Islam, a farmer of Zoair village of Gharinda Union of Sadar Upazila. Not only Shahidul Islam, like him, 11 other farmers in the district have succeeded in cultivating cauliflower.
According to the sources of the District Agriculture Extension Directorate, under the project of increasing crop intensity in the greater Mymensingh region, the initiative to cultivate colorful cauliflower in the winter season was taken this year. From that project, 24,000 colorful coppice seedlings were experimentally given to the farmers of 12 upazilas in the district. Among them, 12,000 are yellow and 12,000 are purple. In 12 upazilas, 6 bighas of land have been cultivated in colorful flower coppice. Farmers planted the seedlings in November last year.
According to the sources of the Directorate of Agricultural Extension, the yellow and purple colored cauliflowers are adorning the vegetable garden after only two to two and a half months. Its market price is 70 to 80 taka.
Shahidul Islam, a colorful cauliflower farmer of Sadar Upazila of the district, said, I planted 2 thousand colorful cauliflower seedlings on 15 percent of the land on November 10 last year. Cauliflower has arrived after two to two and a half months. It cost me 10-12 thousand rupees to grow colorful cauliflower. I hope to be able to sell cauliflower worth Tk 150,000. The demand for this cauliflower is sold as soon as it is taken to many markets. Again the wholesalers took it from my land. Colored cauliflower can be sold for 70-80 taka per piece. Colored cauliflowers yield twice as much profit as perennial cauliflowers. I have seen that the surrounding farmers have expressed interest in farming. Agriculture office has helped me a lot. In the future, if we give seedlings, we will cultivate this colorful cauliflower in more land.
On the surface, it can be seen that many visitors have come to see people eating cauliflower from the surrounding villages. Some are taking photos with colorful cauliflowers. Many are buying copies from the garden.
Akbar Ali of Suruj village of Sadar Upazila who came to see the colorful cauliflower cultivation said, I also want to cultivate colorful cauliflower. This is why I am coming face to face. Cauliflowers look great. Its demand is also double. Very tasty to eat. If the agriculture department cooperates with me, I will also cultivate colorful cauliflower in the future.
Ripon Mia, a farmer of Gopalpur upazila of the district, said that colorful cauliflower is being sold at the rate of Tk 70-80 per kg due to the huge demand. Each copy weighs one and a half to two kilograms. It is expected to be able to sell more than one lakh rupees.
He also said that after the start of cultivation, I have benefited the most from the cultivation of colorful cauliflower. I have 5-6 village women working here every day. Being able to create employment for people is also a matter of happiness. Also many farmers are coming from far and wide every day with interest to see this new cauliflower. Many are showing interest in cultivating this copy in the future. He sells colorful cauliflower in Dhanbari and Madhupur areas of the district.
Mizanur Rahman Shibli Mia and Idris Ali, farmers of Mushuddi village of Dhanbari upazila, said that they cultivated foreign varieties of cauliflower on 15 percent of the land. Wholesalers are buying from the farm at high prices. I will cultivate more land in Amagi. As the price is good, other farmers are increasing interest in cultivating copies of this variety.
Assistant Agriculture Officer of Sadar Upazila Nilufa Yasmin said that the people of this area have never cultivated colorful cauliflower before. So people come from different parts of the upazila to see this vegetable every day. Even officials of the agriculture department are visiting.
Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Rumana Akhtar said that the agriculture department is working tirelessly at the field level to spread the use of new information technology related to agriculture among the farmers. Experimentally, the only Shahidul Islam in the upazila has been supported in the cultivation of colored copies. Due to the success of the dresses, the number of colorful cauliflower farmers will increase next year. The demand for colorful cauliflower is also high in the market. No need to sit in the market, buyers are buying with interest. Besides, colorful cauliflower is nutritious and delicious to eat.
Dulal Uddin, Acting Deputy Director of Tangail Agricultural Extension Department, said that all people liked seeing the colorful cauliflower and it is also delicious to eat. Farmers are more interested in farming as the market price is also very good. Buyers are buying colorful cauliflower with interest.
