AH Liton, Thakurgaon Correspondent : Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Minister and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Nepal will become stronger and more permanent in the future. New horizons for the welfare and development of the people will be opened through mutual cooperation and cordial relations between the two countries.
He said these things while addressing the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the ‘Free Eye Camp-2026’ jointly organized by Bangladesh and Nepal and organized by the Thakurgaon Diabetic Association on Sunday (August 2) at 11 am.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that Nepal is not very far from us geographically. Many poor people in border and remote areas cannot get necessary eye care services due to financial crisis. Numerous people will benefit from such eye camps.
The event was organized with the theme ‘Sight for All, Care for Every Eye’ and was presided over by Dr. Abu Md. Khairul Kabir, President of Thakurgaon Diabetic Association.
The event was addressed by Pratik Karki, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Nepal in Bangladesh, Professor Dr. Chet Raj Pant, Chairman of NMJS, Pump Narayan Chowdhury, Chairman of Biratnagar Eye Hospital, and Zahidur Rahman, Member of Parliament from Thakurgaon-3 constituency.
The speakers said that eyesight is one of the most valuable assets of a person. Therefore, such humanitarian initiatives will play an important role in raising awareness about eye diseases, regular eye examinations and preventing complex diseases. These activities will help in bringing healthcare to the doorsteps of the common people.
Doctors, social workers, representatives of various organizations, various professionals and numerous eye patients participated in the event.
