Mohammad Sohel,Cox’s Bazar : To ensure the health protection of families affected by the recent heavy rains, hygiene kits have been distributed among the affected families at the upazila hall under a joint initiative of the Maheshkhali Upazila Administration and the Public Health Engineering Department.
On August 2 (Sunday) at around 11 am, hygiene kits were distributed among families affected by heavy rains at the Upazila Parishad Hallroom, jointly organized by the Maheshkhali Upazila Administration and the Department of Public Health Engineering.
Honorable Member of Parliament from Cox’s Bazar-2 constituency Alamgir Muhammad Mahfuz Ullah Farid was present as the chief guest at the event. Maheshkhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer Imran Mahamud Dalim presided over the event.
At that time, Upazila Public Health Engineer Surdashan Kanti Deb, Upazila Engineer (LGED) Boni Amin Joni, Upazila Project Implementation Officer (PIO) Sauvrat Das, leaders of upazila, municipality and various unions of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), heads of various government departments, public representatives, dignitaries and local residents were present.
Chief guest Alamgir Muhammad Mahfuz Ullah Farid said, “It is the government’s responsibility to stand by the people affected by the disaster. Hygiene kits are very important in dealing with health risks. Necessary assistance will continue to be provided to the affected families.”
In the president’s speech, Upazila Executive Officer Imran Mahmud Dalim said, “The upazila administration is working relentlessly to alleviate the suffering of the people affected by the heavy rains. Along with relief assistance, this hygiene kit is also being distributed to ensure safe hygiene. Such activities will continue in the future in the public interest.”
At the end of the ceremony, the guests present handed over hygiene kits to the affected family members.
It is worth noting that hygiene kits usually contained soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, sanitary products, disinfectants, and other essential health supplies that play a helpful role in reducing health risks in the post-disaster period.
