Pirojpur in coordination meeting on integrated risk communication and public engagement (RCCE) for dengue prevention held

Pirojpur Correspondent : A coordination meeting on integrated risk communication and public engagement (RCCE) for dengue prevention was held in Pirojpur to increase awareness and public engagement in dengue prevention. Today, Sunday, at the Shaheed Abdur Razzak-Saif Mizan Memorial Conference Room of the District Administration, the District Information Office organized the meeting in collaboration with UNICEF Barisal. Honorable Deputy Commissioner and learned District Magistrate Abu Sayeed of Pirojpur was present as the chief guest.

The event was presided over by Deputy Director of the District Information Office Parikshit Chowdhury, and special guests included Administrator of Pirojpur Zilla Parishad Principal Alamgir Hossain, Civil Surgeon of the district Dr. Md. Matiur Rahman, Deputy Director of the Local Government Department Mahmudur Rahman Mamun. The welcome speech was delivered by Information Officer Saifuddin Al Madani.

The meeting discussed in detail the issues of increasing public awareness in dengue prevention, strengthening risk communication activities, ensuring active participation of local people, and the integrated role of educational institutions, government and non-government departments, voluntary organizations, media and local public representatives.

In his speech as the chief guest, the Deputy Commissioner said that there is no alternative to awareness in dengue prevention. The spread of dengue can be effectively controlled by destroying mosquito breeding grounds, keeping homes, educational institutions, offices and courts and the surrounding environment clean, removing stagnant water and involving the public. He called on social organizations, voluntary organizations, students and the general public to participate in dengue prevention activities together with government initiatives.

Representatives of the Health Department, District Information Office, Local Government Department, officials of various government departments, development partner organizations, representatives of voluntary organizations, media workers and other relevant stakeholders were present in the meeting.

It is to be noted that various awareness activities, cleanliness drives and coordinated initiatives are continuing under the overall supervision of the district administration to increase public awareness and ensure active participation of the people in dengue prevention.
