It has been alleged that a one-month-old baby named Al Islam died due to wrong treatment by a fakir in Jazira Upazila of Shariatpur. The child’s father filed a complaint with the Jazeera police station seeking fair trial.
Shishu Al Islam is the son of Rasel Majhi of Kandi village of Dakshin Khoshal Shikdar of Jazira Upazila.
According to the complaint, the child Al-Islam had been suffering from cold for a few days. His family took the child Al Islam to Jazira Upazila Health Complex on February 4 when he suddenly became very ill. The doctor on duty at Jazeera Upzera Health Complex referred the child to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital. The child was admitted to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital and was referred to Dhaka Children’s Hospital the next day. While the child was being taken to Dhaka, Fakir Mahmud Akon Kandi village Fakir Rahim Khan of the same upazila called the child’s father Russell Majhi and said that there is no need to take him to Dhaka. It is the treatment of Kabiraji (Fakir). You bring it to me, I will heal your son. Believing in Fakir’s words, Shariatpur Sadar Hospital took him to him on February 5 in the morning, noon and afternoon and Rahim Khan gave the child 3 times Kaviraj treatment. He took a total of 70 thousand 500 taka for treatment in 3 stages. Then the child died on February 8 at around 7:30 pm. The child’s father, Russell Majhi, has lodged a complaint with the Jazeera police station, seeking a fair trial.
Dada Zamir Majhi said, I took my grandson to Jazeera Hospital on the last 4th when he got a cold. From there the doctor sent him to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital. Shariatpur Sadar Hospital admitted. The next day the doctor asked him to take him to Dhaka Children’s Hospital. Then we are not ready to go to Dhaka with the grandson. At that time, Fakir Rahim Khan called and said, there is no need to take Dhaka. bring it to me It is not a doctor’s treatment, it is a fakir’s treatment. I am Dhaka, I am Shishu Hospital. Later on 5th I brought my grandson home from Shariatpur hospital. Then Fakir Rahim Khan came to our house. Then we told the Fakir, little child, the doctor asked him to go to Dhaka and get married. We want to take him to Dhaka. Then Fakir Rahim Khan said, trust me a little. I’ll die, but the baby won’t. I am treating her. No need to be taken to the hospital. Then I said to my son, Dad, don’t listen to anyone, take the child to Dhaka. Then my son and the child’s mother are preparing, whenever they leave for Dhaka with the child, Fakir Rahim goes ahead and says, where are you going? What to do with Ore Dhaka? I’m not treating? I don’t see? Your child will not die. We all danced after hearing Fakir’s words. We didn’t know what to do then. Then my son and son’s wife hugged the fakir’s feet. Then Fakir assured and said, nothing will happen to your child, it will be fine. You believe in me. Thus Fakir did not allow my grandson to go to Dhaka. Fakir treats me three times a day. Later on last 8th my grandson died.
Fakir Rahim Khan denied the allegations and said that when the child was taken to the hospital, the doctor asked to take him to Dhaka. Then the child’s father, Russell Majhi, told me on the phone, what should I do now, grandpa? Then I told him to take the doctor’s advice, do what the doctor says. Then Russell Majhi said, Grandpa, I don’t have any money. Then I said, then bring it to me. I gave him some treatment. What should I do if God takes away God’s wealth? Fakir Rahim Khan denied taking 70 thousand 500 rupees for treatment and said, “I did not get four annas from him.” He gave me a blanket two years ago.
