Detective police arrested one person with 1 kg 635 grams of gold jewelery from Paranpur of Darshanar Municipal area of Chuadanga. The market value of which is about 1 crore 54 lakh, police said.
On Wednesday (December 6) around 11:30 am, these golds were recovered wrapped in 6 packets during a raid on the Paranpur-Loknathpur road in the municipal area.
The arrested person’s name is Abu Sahid Hossain (43). He is the son of Daud Ali of Loknathpur village of Damurhuda upazila.
According to the police, on Wednesday morning, on the basis of tip-off, they came to know that a large shipment of gold or drugs may be smuggled through the Paranpur-Loknathpur road of Darshana Municipal area. On receiving this information, a team of detective police raided there. At that time they searched the body of the martyr and recovered the gold wrapped in 6 packets.
In this regard, Chuadanga Assistant Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Nazim Uddin Al-Azad said that the case against the trafficker arrested in Damurhuda Model Police Station is under process. He also said that the recovered gold ornaments will be deposited at the Chuadanga Treasury office.
