‎Nazirpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sazia Shahnaz Toma has urged everyone to be careful so that fraudsters do not cheat innocent people by promising to provide government service cards.
‎He made this appeal as the chief guest at a ‘family gathering’ organized by the District Information Office in Sriramkathi, Nazirpur Upazila, Pirojpur. Deputy Director of the District Information Office Parikshit Chowdhury presided over the event.
‎The Nazirpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer called on the people to provide accurate information to the field-level representatives in the smooth implementation of all government programs, including family cards and farmer cards. He said, “The government is conducting this program with complete transparency so that the truly needy and farmers get the cards.” He assured everyone that the benefits of development would reach the people equally and said that the government has taken such welfare-oriented programs to make people’s lives easier and improve their quality of life.
The president of the event and deputy director of the district information office said in his speech that if the earning capacity of each family increases, the overall poverty rate will decrease and the country’s GDP will increase. In this way, it is possible to build an economically self-sufficient country. Keeping this in mind, the government has already started fulfilling its election promise to protect marginal and low-income families.
He also said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has undertaken a 250 million tree plantation program in 5 years to prepare Bangladesh to deal with climate change-related problems. In addition, a program to dig 20,000 kilometers of canals has also been started across the country, which if implemented will bring about a radical change in the irrigation system in the agricultural sector and will play a major role in the rural economy. He expressed hope that as a result, on the one hand, fish farming will increase, and on the other hand, rural women will be able to easily earn additional income by raising ducks in canals and water bodies.
‎Among others, the event was also addressed by Assistant Professor Santosh Kumar Majumdar of Matibhanga College, Headmaster of Sriramkathi Union Jugalkrishna High School, Pavitra Majumdar, and Assistant Director of the District Information Office, Saifuddin Al Madani.
‎It is worth noting that all the district information offices of the country are organizing such gatherings across the country to create public awareness about the priority programs announced by the Prime Minister in order to implement the government’s election manifesto. After the gathering, a ‘quiz competition’ was held among the 10th grade students of Sriramkathi Jugalkrishna High School on the government’s election manifesto, the Prime Minister’s priority programs, and social and religious values. After the competition, prizes and certificates were distributed among the three winning students.
