A high-level delegation from the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs and UNDP inspected the activities of the “Biodiversity Ecosystem Restoration for Community Resilience in CHT” project, which is being implemented to enhance community resilience and restore biodiversity and ecosystems in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
The project is being implemented through UNDP’s ERRD-CHT project under the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs.
The visiting team included International Project Manager Yugesh Pradhan, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Abdul Hakim, senior project officers of ERRD-CHT, UNDP, and representatives of the Rangamati Hill District Council.
The delegation visited the Marma Para of Benchachari and interacted with the Nature Team (wildlife rescue team) formed under the project and local residents. During this time, the locals shared their experiences and opinions on how they are benefiting from the project in terms of biodiversity conservation, environmental protection, wildlife protection and livelihood development. During the visit, the delegation expressed satisfaction with the progress of the project and field activities and emphasized the need to further strengthen such initiatives for environmental conservation and sustainable community development in the hilly areas.
