The Madaripur Sadar Model Police Station has arrested three accused in the controversial Lamia murder case of Madaripur.
They were arrested after conducting a raid at a relative’s house in Rampal Upazila of Bagerhat district at around 2:30 am on Wednesday (July 21).
Police sources said that the murder of housewife Lamia created a huge sensation in Madaripur district. Since the incident, locals have been holding human chains and protest programs demanding the immediate arrest of those involved and exemplary punishment. Later, a special team led by Md. Sajedul Islam, In-Charge (IC) of Srinadi Police Investigation Center, conducted the raid and arrested them under the direction of Madaripur District Superintendent of Police Habibur Rahman and under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Fariha Rafiq Bhavna. The 3 arrested accused are Khokon Bepari (Lamia’s father-in-law), Rinki (Lamia’s sister-in-law) and Lima (Lamia’s sister-in-law). They are all accused in the case.
The police also said that the operation to arrest the other absconding accused in the murder case is continuing. The process to bring all of them under the law is ongoing.
