Md. Shariful Islam,Sakhipur (Tangail) Correspondent : Two groups, Shah Alam Gang and Saiful Gang, have forcibly encroached on about 4 acres of forest land at Dagh No. 2210 of Garbari Mouza under Kakrajan (Moricha) bit of Baheratli range of Sakhipur upazila of Tangail. Unable to free themselves from the forcible encroachment, the Forest Department has filed an eviction case against both groups. There have also been several cases and attacks between the two groups over the forcible encroachment of the Forest Department’s land. One group has named the same place Sarkar Mor and the other group has named it Ganir Mor. Both groups have also been taken to Sakhipur police station several times for the purpose of resolving the matter. In this regard, Kakrajan (Moricha) bit officer Md. Shahadat Hossain said that an eviction case has been filed against Saiful Gang and Shah Alam Gang for forcibly encroaching on the Forest Department’s land. Baheratli range officer Md. Emran Ali said that the forcibly encroached forest land will be recovered and afforestation will be carried out there.
