Anisur Rahman Shelly : The government has appointed Md. Moniruzzaman Miah, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, as the new Divisional Commissioner of Dhaka Division.
A notification in this regard was issued by the Field Administration-2 Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration on Saturday (June 28). The notification states that this order, issued in the public interest, will come into effect immediately.
Newly appointed Divisional Commissioner Md. Moniruzzaman Mia is the son-in-law of freedom fighter Abdul Halim Mia of Kamarthi village in Kalihati upazila of Tangail. His wife is Sonia Halim. There is an atmosphere of joy in Kamarthi area of ​​Kalihati upazila on the news of this appointment.
Earlier, the post fell vacant when Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Sharaf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury was promoted and appointed as Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute. Md. Moniruzzaman Miah has been appointed to the vacant post.
Locals have expressed hope that his appointment to one of the country’s most important administrative positions will be a matter of pride for Kalihati.
