Alhaj Mohammad Hazrat Ali is a well-known militant name of Sherpur in the movement to restore democracy and strengthen the leadership of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. He is the former general secretary and former convener of Sherpur district BNP.

During the last 17 years of rule, he has been imprisoned, physically tortured and politically harassed several times. Due to political vendetta, he has lost his business and trade worth crores of taka that he had built up by hand. Yet, he has not deviated from the party’s ideology even a hair. Rather, by facing all the adversities, he has set a unique example of sacrifice, courage and uncompromising in Sherpur politics.

At one time, when it became difficult to find leaders and activists in the BNP procession in Sherpur, Hazrat Ali firmly took the reins of the party. During the difficult period of 16 long years, he kept the leaders and activists united and kept the movement and struggle active. From the street fight to the dark cell of the prison, he was steadfast everywhere. Despite being repeatedly persecuted, he rose like a phoenix and led the party.
His political struggle has also affected his family. Due to his father’s politics, his daughter, a young doctor Dr. Sansila Zebrin Priyanka, has also been subjected to political revenge, harassment and various forms of torture.
Alhaj Mohammad Hazrat Ali, a symbol of sacrifice, courage, ideals and uncompromising struggle, is today known as an exemplary leader not only in Sherpur but also in national politics.
