Saudi investors have expressed interest in investing in Bangladesh in five sectors – food and beverage industry, information technology, digital finance, construction and energy. The Saudi Arabia-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SABCCI) announced this information at the closing ceremony of the three-day ‘Saudi-Bangladesh Business Summit 2025’.
Speaking at a post-summit press conference held at a luxury hotel in the capital on Wednesday (October 8), SABCCI President Ashraful Haque Chowdhury said, “Bangladesh has now created a significant position in the world not only in ready-made garments; it has also created a significant position in software, information technology and freelancing. Saudi entrepreneurs want to be a part of this potential.”
He said that to further strengthen the business relations between the two countries, a plan has been made to organize a ‘Show Case Bangladesh’ in Saudi Arabia soon. There, Bangladesh’s potential sectors will be presented to Saudi investors.
Michael Sassen, CEO of Saudi company Heliopark, who participated in the summit, expressed his feelings after coming to Bangladesh and said, “We all know that Bangladesh is very advanced in the ready-made garment industry. But you are also doing world-class work in software and semiconductor manufacturing. Bangladesh has a large young population who are very eager to work. That is why a bright future awaits the country’s economy.”
Other businessmen said there are countless opportunities to expand trade between the two Muslim brotherhood countries. Especially with a large number of Bangladeshi workers working in Middle Eastern countries, both countries would benefit from making this workforce more skilled through joint investment and training.
The three-day business summit brought together top policymakers, business leaders, investors and policymakers from both countries. The event featured multiple thematic sessions that discussed the potential of trade, investment, remittances and technology sectors.
SABCCI Director and Pran Agro Limited Director Uzma Chowdhury, and the organization’s Vice President Ahmed Yusuf Walid were present at the closing ceremony of the Business Summit.
During this time, Saudi businessmen expressed interest in investing in Bangladesh’s food, beverage and agricultural products. At the same time, they expressed their desire to import more halal and agricultural products from Bangladesh.
