The journalist community has expressed its anger over the recent behavior of Shariatpur 3 MP and National Parliament Whip Mia Nur Uddin Ahmed Apu and Comilla 9 Nangalkot MP Mobasher Alam Bhuiyan.
Comilla MP Mobasher Alam Bhuiyan publicly misbehaved with journalists and threatened to fire them, saying that they must obey him or they will not be able to practice journalism. The MP’s statement has been widely criticized across the country for the past two days. On the other hand, Shariatpur MP Mianur Uddin Apu threw a tissue box at journalists at a public meeting on Monday, which has generated widespread criticism on social media.
Members of parliament should behave responsibly with the media and journalists. They are lawmakers, leaders of the people. This statement by the MPs has created mixed reactions in the journalists and political arena across the country. It is undemocratic and disrespectful behavior towards the media.
