A press briefing was held in Jhalakathi to highlight the various developmental programs and public welfare initiatives mentioned in the government’s election manifesto. The press briefing was organized by the District Information Office at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Wednesday at 11 am.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Jhalakathi Md. Kawsar Hossain spoke at the press briefing. At this time, District Information Officer Lelin Bala gave details about the various programs of the government and the plans mentioned in the election manifesto.
The speakers said that various people-friendly initiatives have been taken in the government’s election manifesto including family card program, canal excavation and renovation, tree plantation program, special transport system for women, distribution of farmer cards and agricultural loan waiver. The media can play an important role in bringing the benefits of these programs to the doorsteps of the common people.
Local media workers participated in the event and expressed their views on various issues. Jhalakathi Press Club President Akkas Sikder, General Secretary A.S.M. Mahamudur Rahman Parvez, Assistant General Secretary Alok Saha, Reporters Club General Secretary Vice Principal Riazul Islam Bachchu and Television Journalists Association Convener and now Television District Representative Al Amin Talukder participated in the discussion.
Jhalakathi canal renovation, waste management, effectiveness of farmer cards and various aspects of local development were given importance in the discussion. The speakers urged journalists to play a more active role in conveying the message of the government’s development activities and election manifesto to the people.
