Tariqul Islam Tarek, the in-charge office secretary of Rangpur Metropolitan Jubo Dal, confirmed the matter on Wednesday morning.
Anisur Rahman is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Party and family sources say that the district BNP is scheduled to hold a conference on October 14. On the occasion of that conference, Anisur Rahman Laku fell ill on Tuesday night on his way back to Rangpur from Dhaka after party work. Later, he was admitted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogra and breathed his last there at 7:10 am today.

Anisur Rahman Laku, a resident of Nurpur in Rangpur city, joined BNP politics through student politics. He was the president of the district Chhatra Dal, general secretary of the district Jubo Dal, joint organizing secretary of the central Jubo Dal, and organizing secretary of the metropolitan BNP. He was nominated as member secretary in the district BNP committee in 2022.

Anisur Rahman Laku was a candidate for the post of general secretary in the upcoming October 14 conference and was hoping for party nomination from the Rangpur Sadar 3 constituency in the national elections.

Anisur Rahman Laku was not just the leader of a political party, he was a fearless soldier for democracy, justice, and human rights. For the past 16 years, he has been fighting against dictatorship on the streets, ignoring continuous repression, lawsuits, attacks, and oppression.

With the death of a brave, hardworking, selfless, and idealistic leader like him, the democratic movement of the country, including Rangpur, lost a guardian. His life philosophy and sacrifice will remain a source of inspiration.
