Md. Moniruzzaman, Mymensingh: Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh has organized an orientation program for new students of the undergraduate class (Level-1, Semester-1) of the 2025-2026 academic year.
The program, organized at the Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Auditorium of the university on Sunday (August 02), was attended by the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed as the chief guest and the Vice-Chancellor of BAU Professor Dr. AK Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan as the chief patron. The program, which began with the welcome speech of the Member Secretary Professor Dr. Mohammad Saifullah and the convenor of the Dean Council Professor Dr. Md. Bahanur Rahman, Provost Council Convener Professor Dr. Md. Ruhul Amin, Proctor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Alim and Registrar Agriculturist Dr. Md. Helal Uddin. A documentary on the 65-year history of the university was shown at the event; along with this, local and foreign students and Chhatra Dal Convener Md. Atiqur Rahman Atiq and Member Secretary Md. Shafiqul Islam Shafiq, President of Islami Chhatra Shibir Agriculturist Abdullah Al Moin and President of Samajtantrik Chhatra Front Zayed Hasan Walid spoke. In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor paid tribute to the martyrs of the great Language Movement, Liberation War and the mass uprisings of 90 and 24 and urged the students to play a role in the country’s food security by becoming skilled, ethical and humane agriculturists. On the other hand, UGC Chairman Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed congratulated the freshers and urged them to develop into world-class agriculturists through their talent and hard work and play a leading role in building a digitalized and smart Bangladesh. The dean of the university, teachers, officials and employees, students and guardians, along with journalists from print and electronic media, were present at the event.
