Nusrat Tabassum has taken oath as a member of parliament for the reserved women’s seat in the 13th National Parliament election. Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram administered the oath to her.
(Wednesday) The oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected member of parliament was held at the Speaker’s office of the National Parliament under the leadership of Barrister Md. Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat.
In accordance with the Third Schedule of Article-148 of the Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Rule-5 of the Procedure of the National Parliament, the Speaker of the National Parliament administered the oath to the newly elected member of parliament.
After the oath-taking ceremony, the newly elected member of parliament signed the oath book in the room of the Parliament Secretary as per the custom. The Deputy Speaker, Chief Whip of the Opposition Party, and senior officials of the Parliament Secretariat were also present at the oath-taking ceremony.
Earlier, 49 candidates were elected unopposed in the election for the 50 reserved women’s seats of the 13th National Parliament. The Bangladesh Election Commission (EC) published a gazette with their names and addresses.
