It is learned that this administrative action has been taken in the wake of allegations of regular collection of money from drug dens and involvement with drug dealers (Memorandum No. 2178/RO, Date: July 31, 2026). Locals alleged that a gang had been running a drug business in the Sarkar Bazar area of ​​Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila for a long time. Although complaints were reported to the police at various times, no effective action was taken. They claimed that the accused were again running a drug business by managing the police. It is learned that on July 31, local residents arrested Majnu Mia, a known drug dealer, in the Sarkar Bazar area. At that time, marijuana and Yaba tablets were recovered from them. Upon receiving the information, a team of Moulvibazar Sadar Police Station reached the spot and took the detainees into their custody. Later, after completing the legal process, they were taken to the police station. The people present on the spot, in the presence of the police, filed a complaint against ASI Shafiqul Islam for taking illegal financial benefits for a long time. After this, on the orders of the Moulvibazar District Police Superintendent, ASI Shafiqul Islam Shafiq, working at the Sherpur police outpost, was closed in the police line. When asked about this, ASI Shafiqul Islam denied the allegations on his mobile phone and said that he was making these allegations against Sohag, who was angry after a brother of him, who lives in London, was arrested earlier. He claimed that the allegations were motivated and the real truth would be revealed through investigation.
