A jailer named Dulal Chandra Sarkar (55) hanged himself after failing to pay his debt in Comilla’s Laksam. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon in Chikuniya village of Ward No. 7 of Mudafarganj North Union of Upazila.
The deceased’s brother Lil Mohan Sarkar said that his elder brother Dulal Chandra Sarkar (55) is a fisherman. House beside them. He has 1 son and 1 daughter. About 4 months ago, his son Sujan loaned Sarkar about 7/8 lakhs for sending him abroad (Abu Dhabi).
As he is also a fisherman, his daily average income is Tk 400/500 so it is almost impossible for him to repay the loan. He was often worried about debt.
Today at 12:30 pm, while doing paddy work on the road near the house, he saw his elder brother Dulal Chandra Sarkar (55) coming home from the market.
Later, at 1:00 p.m., hearing screams from the pond, the correspondent went to the pond and found his elder brother Dulal Chandra Sarkar (55) hanging by a rope from the Belgium tree on the west side of the pond.
When the people present immediately called the village police, they went to the spot and looked into the matter and when the village police informed the police station, the Laksam police station went to the spot and with the help of the people present, the dead body of Dulal Chandra Sarkar (55) was lowered from the hanging position.
It is believed by everyone including the family that Dulal Chandra Sarkar (55) was depressed because of the loan money and committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope to a Belgium tree on the western side of the pond of the large house in Chikuniya South.
In response to the written news, the Laksam police station registered a case of wrongful death. And after the legal process of the dead body, the body is sent to the morgue.
