Village Police Vipul Chandra Roy has been charged with attempted rape of a housewife in Hatibandha Upazila of Lalmonirhat.
Accused Vipul Chandra is the son of Amulya Chandra Burman of that area. In this incident, the housewife herself filed a written complaint at Hatibandha police station.
Hatibandha Thana police arrested the village police soon after the case was filed. Earlier on Sunday night, this incident took place in Ward No. 8 of Goddimari Union of that upazila.
According to the source of the complaint, village police Vipul Chandra almost came to her house and made a bad offer as her husband was staying in Dhaka in search of livelihood.
Locals said Vipul Chandra was involved in various types of misdemeanors while serving as the village police of Gaddimari Union of Hatibandha Upazila. That village police has been under suspension from UP Parishad for almost 6 years due to that misdeed.
The housewife complained, claiming that Vipul Chandra had a video of my shower, he repeatedly harassed me when I did not agree when he proposed to me several times. In this situation, on April 21 midnight, he tried to rape me by entering my house saying that he had an urgent matter. At that time, when I screamed, Vipul left me and tried to run away. Later local people arrested him and took him to Goddimari Union Parishad.
In this regard, Hatibandha police station officer-in-charge Saiful Islam said, based on the written complaint of the housewife, accused Vipul was arrested and sent to jail.
