Although there was temporary tension between Bangladeshi and Indian citizens in the Dhabolguri border area of Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) took quick action to bring the situation under control. The BGB said that the situation in the border area is currently normal.
This information was given in a press release sent by Teesta Battalion (61 BGB) on Tuesday (May 12) evening.
The release said that a verbal altercation and temporary tension arose between local Bangladeshi and Indian citizens over some women cutting grass near the zero line along the border pillar 873/15-S, which is the responsibility of Dharla BOP under Teesta Battalion. At that time, members of the Nalangibari camp of India’s 156th Battalion BSF were also present at the scene.
Upon receiving the information, the BGB patrol team quickly reached the spot and brought the situation under control with professionalism, patience and discretion. Later, the locals on both sides were pacified and the normal environment was restored in the border area.
The BGB said that they have been performing their duties in coordination and mutual cooperation with the local people to maintain overall security and stability in the border area. At the same time, the people living along the border are also cooperating with the BGB in dealing with any unwanted situation, which is playing an important role in maintaining a peaceful environment on the border.
