SB-Sujon, Lalmonirhat: RAB-13 has arrested Jibon Mia (22), the main accused in the case filed in Aditmari, Lalmonirhat, in the rape of a seven-year-old child.
On Monday (August 3), RAB-13 said in a press release that he was arrested in a raid in the Namatari area of ​​Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila early in the morning based on a secret tip-off. The arrested Jibon Mia is a resident of Dakshin Gobadha Bhitarkuti village of Aditmari Upazila.
RAB also said that on July 29, a seven-year-old student of a local madrasa was taken to an abandoned tin shed and raped using the opportunity of being a neighbor and cousin. Later, when the child returned home sick and informed his family members about the incident, he was admitted to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital for treatment.
In this incident, the child’s father filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Aditmari Police Station on August 1. The accused Jiban Mia has been in hiding since the case.
RAB-13 Senior Assistant Director (Media) Additional Superintendent of Police Biplob Kumar Goswami said that the main accused was arrested in a drive based on intelligence surveillance. He has been handed over to the concerned police station for further legal action. He also said that RAB’s drive to suppress serious crimes like murder, kidnapping and rape will continue.
