On the last day of filing nominations for the second phase of the Sixth Upazila Parishad election, 24 candidates filed nominations for the post of Chairman, Vice Chairman and Female Vice Chairman in Jhalkathi Sadar and Nalchiti upazilas.
On Sunday (April 21) night, district election officer and election returning officer Moha A. Chalek confirmed the matter.
4 people in Jhalkathi Sadar and 3 people in Nalchiti as Chairman, 3 people in Jhalkathi Sadar and 6 people in Nalchiti as Vice Chairman.
There are 5 candidates in Nalchiti, 3 women vice chairmen in Jhalkathi Sadar.
Jhalkathi Sadar has the post of chairman, Khan Arifur Rahman, Sultan Hossain Khan, Nurul Amin Khan Suruj, Syed Razzaq Ali. Vice chairman has the post, Mohin Uddin Talukdar (Moin), Saidur Rahman and Lashkar Asifur Rahman Dipu. The female vice chairman is Israt. Jahan Sonali, Pinu Akhtar Nadi and Umm Salma.
In Nalchiti Upazila, Tshalim Uddin Chowdhury, GK Mostafizur Rahman and Salahuddin Khan Salim are holding the post of chairman. Besides, JM Hatim, Badrul Alam, Moniruzzaman Monir, Mofizur Rahman Shahin, Hanif Howladar and Mizanur Rahman Lalon Sharif are holding the post of vice chairman. Female Vice Ayesha Akhtar, Zakia Khatun Seema, Dilruba Mahmud, Morsheda Begum and Nachima Akhtar are the chairpersons.
Selection of nomination papers for the second phase is on April 23. Appeal 24-26 April. Appeal disposal 27-29 April. Last date for withdrawal of candidature is 30th April. Allotment of symbols to candidates on May 2. Voting on 21st May.
