Horrific fire in Shariktala Bazar in Pirojpur, 14 shops gutted, destitute businessmen

A horrific fire has gutted 14 shops in Shariktala Bazar in Pirojpur Sadar Upazila. The fire broke out around 1 am on Saturday night. The initial damage is estimated to be around 10 million taka.
According to local sources, a fire broke out in a shop in the market late at night.

In a matter of moments, the fire spread to the surrounding shops. This spread panic throughout the market. Although locals tried to control the fire, it was not possible as the fire spread quickly.

Receiving the news, members of the Pirojpur Fire Service reached the spot and brought the fire under control after a long effort. It is initially believed that the fire may have started from a tea shop in the market.

Meanwhile, Union BNP President Md. Hemayet Uddin Bepari and the acting chairman of the union have assured to stand by the traders affected by the fire.

‎In the fire, traders of a total of 14 shops including pharmacies, decorators, grocery stores, tea shops, and snack shops have lost everything and are left distraught. Locals have demanded immediate assistance and rehabilitation of the affected people.
