Industries Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir said that a new large industrial park will be built in Thakurgaon to quickly eliminate unemployment and accelerate employment creation and industrialization. This will create employment opportunities for about 25,000 people. He said these things while inspecting the BSCIC Food Processing Industrial City in Thakurgaon on the morning of Saturday, May 9, 2026.
He said that there is already an EPZ in Thakurgaon, where industrial entrepreneurs are conducting their activities. A food processing industrial city will be built in the new BSCIC Industrial City that is being built. Several industrial entrepreneurs have already been talked to, and they have expressed interest in setting up new industrial enterprises with plots. As a result, employment will have to be created to eliminate unemployment. And for that purpose, new factories and investments are being increased. The Thakurgaon Industrial Park is being built on a new area of about 50 acres, where there will be 251 plots. Various industrial enterprises will be built on these plots. Some may set up industries on two, three or four plots. The minister said that if this project is successful, more industrial cities will be built in the future as per the need, so that it is possible to create employment quickly. Moreover, the main goal of the current government is to create employment opportunities by converting the population into manpower. To increase the efficiency of the existing manpower. The government is working towards that goal. He mentioned that the inspection of the new industrial city in Thakurgaon is also a part of that program. He said that
Initiatives will be taken to produce new exportable crops in Thakurgaon through coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture. There is a plan to build a potato-based industry in particular. Although a large amount of potatoes are produced in the country, there is a shortage of exportable potatoes. Therefore, emphasis should be placed on producing new varieties of exportable potatoes and that can be achieved in the future.
At this time, Deputy Commissioner Rafiqul Haque, entrepreneurs of BSCIC Industrial City and district BNP leaders were present.
